Calcitonin (Salmon) is used in the treatment of post menopausal osteoporosis, Paget's disease and hypercalcemia.

How Calcitonin (Salmon) works

Calcitonin (Salmon) is a calcitonin receptor agonist. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.

Nausea, Injection site inflammation, Joint pain, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Headache, Back pain, Inflammation of the nose, Nosebleeds, Nasal symptoms, Abdominal pain, Nocturia (increased urge to urinate during the night), Fever, Eye pain, Loss of appetite, Ankle swelling, Salty taste
